Geneviève Verdo

The article covers the major problem of political representation during the revolution of independence, considering it from the point of view of its agents, the deputies. The study of their action in the revolutionary assemblies shows their efforts to reconcile the two tendencies of sovereignty: the plural sovereignty of the pueblos, considered as political main actors, and the most utopic sovereignty of the modern people, characterized by its abstraction and unicity.
