La costa cubana del comercio bananero (1804-1868)

The growth and marketing of the banana in Cuba has hardly been considered worthy of interest for research, in spite of the importance that the study of this sector has in general as pad of Latin American historiography and despite the fact that this island was a pioneer in the international trade in this fruit. This article studies the early stages in the export of the Cuban banana (the seven first decades of the 1 9th century) which were geographically centered on the western half of the territory, especially around the Baracoa district, at whose port most of the trading done with this product took place.
