This paper examines the poetics of space in the novel Désert (1980), written by Nobel Prize winner
J.M.G. Le Clézio. The analysis aims to highlight philosophical elements present in the work of the French
writer, based on three aspects: the narrativity of history, human interaction with space and the otherness of the
critical approach to the dominant culture
