The present article belongs to the field of Reception Studies within the wider frame of Digital Humanities. As its main objective, it aims at describing the publishing history in Spain of the novel Mujercitas, by Louisa May Alcott, through its translations and adaptations into Castilian Spanish. In order to achieve this objective, we have created an ad hoc database  that draws on a number of on-line catalogues. First, we tackle the  theoretical distinction between the concept of adaptation and translation applied to the novel. Second, we describe the main categories of the database, the relationship between them and the relevance of these relationships for the analysis of the reception of the book. Finally, we describe a number of cases that are representative of the history of the reception of Mujercitas in Spain. We conclude with general reflections on the concept of translation and adaptation and on the usefulness of the database as a methodological research tool for Reception Studies.
