The possibility of bleaching treatments with hydrogen peroxide to render a determined felting resistance to wool materials has been studied.
Wool knit fabric was bleached at different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide; the characteristics of the bleached fabrics and their antifelting capacity were examined by carrying out trials of dimensional changes, stitch density, fabric weight, air permeability and thickness. Results showed that bleaching on wool fabrics does not affect the felting degree of the goods made with such a bleached wool as compared to the same material unbleached.
