Estudios y experiencias sobre Pilling.

Federico López-Amo Marín, Arun Naik, José Mª Pons Casacuberta

The presence of synthetic fibres and their application in knitted fabrics has led to the manufacture of light articles. This is mainly due to the fashion and the cost of manufacture. The importance of «pilling», which is the first sign of the wear of the fabric, has increased due to this.
This paper is based in the study of different types of laboratory apparatus employed in the determination of the aptitude to «pilling». From this, the most adequate ones from the point of view of the results, reproducibility, rapidness, cost, and sensitiveness, are recommended.
A series of «anti-pilling» fabrics were tested and their results are given.
