La ceràmica vidrada monocroma del convent dels dominics de Castelló d’Empúries

Joan Frigola i Torrent

The archaeological works done in the apse of the Dominican Convent in Castelló d’Empúries (Alt Empordà, Girona) brought to light an exceptional collection made up of more than 6.000 pieces of pottery, thrown in order to build an embankment before 1512. Among the several items retrieved, the monochrome glazed pottery stood out both of its quantity and homogeneity, and thus it has become the central theme of the present study. This paper analyses the different documented forms (bowls, plates, jugs, pots, lids...), which have been organized into functional categories and structured according to the diff erent types.
