Genealogía del Tecno-Orientalismo

This monograph explores the sources of techno-orientalist discourse and its exchanges with other discourses. We study in detail both its symbolic composition and its evolution from the time of the Japanese economic miracle to the xxist century. We relate the transformations and continuities within techno-orientalism to the changes of history and social contexts. To this end, we provide instances from massmedia and popular culture (with a focus on the production and reception of science fiction anime). The corollary calls for a reassessment of the impact and strength of techno-orientalist pretenses on a global scale.
