Información sobre inmigración en la prensa de Tenerife. Las manifestaciones de vecinos contra un centro de menores inmigrantes en 2006
Resum
In May 2006 a racist outbreak took place in a small neighbourhood on the North of Tenerife. Some locals demonstrated against the arrival of immigrant children to a Red Cross lodging at which they were going to stay provisionally due to the lack of better facilities. The article analyzes the follow-up of the event in the information pages of three of the most important newspapers of the province. Our analysis reveals that two of the newspapers adopted a sympathetic attitude towards the demonstrators.
