In this paper we present an analysis of different variants of sound - /s/ in implosive position in the town of Mérida (Badajoz). To do this, we use data from surveys and interviews conducted in the town to see if linguistic factors (distributional and contextual) are influential in the selection of variants of - /s/; also, specially, we will use this information to observe if the social status (depending on the level of education of the speakers) affects the selection of the different phonetic variants selected in the township.
