La menstruación: de la invisibilitat a l'abolició

Resum

Medical research, teaching and health assistance have looked at women "as if they were men" and have not seen their specific problems and illnesses, nor understood their complaint, their lack of wellbeing and their pain. Women's health has been studied and valued only as reproductive health and this focus has prevented women's health from being approached from a perspective of wholeness. There still exists a great lack of knowledge, through a lack of research and information, of the illnesses that women suffer, their causes and the way to prevent them. Medical training has not indicated that there could be differences in the way that women and men become ill, that diagnostic methods could be different, or that therapies and pharmaceuticals might have different ways of acting upon women and men.
