Un imprevisto balance naturalista de la campaña del idealismo trascendental contra el dogmatismo

Edgar Maraguat

In this paper I consider a possible naturalistic reading of the System of Transcendental Idealism (1800) by F. W. J. Schelling. It is argued that one may view Schelling’s rejection of an absolutistic conception of the will and his theory of the emergence of consciousness by reciprocal recognition between rational beings as grounding a materialistic but non eliminativistic philosophy of mind (although Schelling himself did not develop this view). I present his position in the context of a discussion of F. H. Jacobi’s and J. G. Fichte’s reactions to the ambiguous consequences for dogmatism of the Kantian critique of the theoritical use of reason.
