Del estereotipo al amarillismo. Prácticas periodísticas incorrectas en el tratamiento de grupos sociales vulnerables

Aurora Labio

Resum

The article puts forward the reflection about informative treatment of some vulnerable groups, specially inmigrants, persons with disability and homosexuals. The recent incorporation of these groups to the informative agenda is raising a review of those wrong journalistic practices that foment generalizations and stereotypes. Using examples from newspapers, the author believes that it is time to rethink about public function and social responsability of media. Economic purposes can not made journalism forget the right treatment of discriminated groups. On the contrary, the informative labor will be fundamental to reach a more wide definition of multiculturalism.
