Diversidad fitosociológica. Riqueza de cabezas de series sucesionales en relación con la altitud

Jesús Izco

Biodioversity is manifested at various levels of organization, including that of vegetation within ecosystems. In the present paper, descriptors of potential vegetation (number of communities. number of contacting communities pairs. and total number of mapped tessels) were determined for a total of 110 grid squares (20 x 20 km) along three transects. The three descriptors, and particularly number of communities and total number of mapped tessels, were closely correlated. All three descriptors of grid-square altitude (maximum altitude, minimum altitude and altitude interval) were all effective predictors of phytosociological richness, particularly as mesured by total number of mapped tessels.
